The Shared Lives Scheme supports people with learning disabilities and people with dementia who have eligible care and support needs by matching them with approved and trained Shared Lives Carers.

The training pathway is for both new and existing Shared Lives Carers to ensure they have the required skills and knowledge to effectively and safely fulfil their role. This has been developed to provide structured essential training for all shared lives carers who are approved under the West Sussex County Council Shared Lives Scheme by:

  • Attending workshops
  • E-learning
  • Reading and Research
  • Cascaded by the shared lives team

The training offered within these pathways is also available to approved Shared Lives Support Carers who provide care and supported to individuals.
