This pathway is for all childcare staff working in residential care who are not Social Work qualified. The pathway will guide you through the Learning and Development opportunities available to you in your first two years in post.

This one day course is for staff in residential establishments. It explores the requirement for consistent care for young people in residential establishments, including support with behaviour issues. It will enable you to explore your own attitudes and appreciate your role in encouraging young people to achieve their potential.

Paediatric First Aid  
This two day course is for West Sussex County Council employees who work in Children's Residential Services. It is suitable if you work within Children's services where a risk assessment has indicated that a lower level of first aid training, covering emergency protocols for children and young people is necessary. Ofsted advise that if you look after young people and children up until puberty you should have the Paediatric training and above that Adult First Aid training.
