This pathway is for all childcare staff working in residential care who are not Social Work qualified. The pathway will guide you through the Learning and Development opportunities available to you in your first two years in post.

Fire Safety - An Introduction (WSCC and PVI Care Establishments) (EVENT FULL)  
This interactive, half-day workshop is for all Care Establishment staff and will provide you with an understanding of fire, how it starts and spreads, and the most effective ways of extinguishing different types of fire. It will look at your role and responsibilities in the event of a fire. This workshop can be part of an induction programme or as a refresher to previous learning. Paediatric First Aid  
This two day course is for West Sussex County Council employees who work in Children's Residential Services. It is suitable if you work within Children's services where a risk assessment has indicated that a lower level of first aid training, covering emergency protocols for children and young people is necessary. Ofsted advise that if you look after young people and children up until puberty you should have the Paediatric training and above that Adult First Aid training.
