This pathway is for all childcare staff working in residential care who are not Social Work qualified. The pathway will guide you through the Learning and Development opportunities available to you in your first two years in post.

HIV Hepatitis B and C Awareness (Blood Borne Virus)

Paediatric First Aid  
This two day course is for West Sussex County Council employees who work in Children's Residential Services. It is suitable if you work within Children's services where a risk assessment has indicated that a lower level of first aid training, covering emergency protocols for children and young people is necessary. Ofsted advise that if you look after young people and children up until puberty you should have the Paediatric training and above that Adult First Aid training.

The Secrets of Self Harm (EVENT FULL)  
This one day workshop is for relevant staff to develop their understanding of issues related to Self Harm. Some people use self harming behaviour as a coping strategy when life gets unbearable.
