This pathway is for all childcare staff working in residential care who are not Social Work qualified. The pathway will guide you through the Learning and Development opportunities available to you in your first two years in post.

Fire Safety - An Introduction (WSCC and PVI Care Establishments) (EVENT FULL)  
This interactive, half-day workshop is for all Care Establishment staff and will provide you with an understanding of fire, how it starts and spreads, and the most effective ways of extinguishing different types of fire. This one day workshop is for relevant staff to develop their understanding of issues related to Self Harm. Some people use self harming behaviour as a coping strategy when life gets unbearable. Paediatric First Aid (EVENT FULL)  
This two day course is for West Sussex County Council employees who work in Children's Residential Services. It is suitable if you work within Children's services where a risk assessment has indicated that a lower level of first aid training, covering emergency protocols for children and young people is necessary. Ofsted advise that if you look after young people and children up until puberty you should have the Paediatric training and above that Adult First Aid training.
