This pathway is for all childcare staff working in residential care who are not Social Work qualified. The pathway will guide you through the Learning and Development opportunities available to you in your first two years in post.

Paediatric First Aid + Adult Life Support (EVENT FULL)  
This two day course is for West Sussex County Council employees. It is suitable if you work within Children's services where a risk assessment has indicated that a lower level of first aid training, covering emergency protocols for children and young people is necessary. Ofsted advise that if you look after young people and children up until puberty you should have the Paediatric training and above that Adult First Aid training.

Protecting Disabled Children  
This one day course is designed for all staff who work with children and families. Available UK evidence on the extent of abuse amongst disabled children suggests disabled children are at an increased risk of abuse. This course will explore good practice to effectively protect disabled children from abuse and neglect, drawing on recent guidance and recommendations. It will consider how to promote effective integrated working between all those concerned in promoting disabled children's welfare and safety.
