Mental Health Knowledge for Managers Series

Event Description This 7-part series of online learning modules is for West Sussex County Council staff, and specifically those who are line managers.

Provided by Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) England, they aim to provide you with an introduction to your role as line manager in supporting the mental health of your team and in developing your ability to have effective conversations about mental health.

The 7 modules should be taken in order as each one builds on the learning from the previous. The module topics are as follows:

  • Part 4: Respond
  • Part 5: Managing Performance
  • Part 6: Workplace Stress
  • Part 7: Managing Remote Teams
  • Training Objectives The aim of this 7-part series of online learning module is to provide you with an introduction to your role as line manager in supporting the mental health of your team and in developing your ability to have effective conversations about mental health. 
    Learning Outcomes If you apply what you have learnt in this series of online modules, you will be able to:

  • Recognise the business benefits of supporting the mental health of your team.
  • Have a greater awareness of your role in supporting mental wellbeing of your team members.
  • Recognise what signs may indicate changes in someone’s mental health.
  • Apply the ‘Three-Step Approach’ (Ask, Listen, Respond) to have effective conversations about mental health.
  • Have effective conversations about mental health.
  • Identify sources of further information and support.
  • Feel more confident when supporting your team members.
