COSHH Awareness Interactive

Event Description This course is for West Sussex County Council managers and staff and covers the essentials of COSHH in the workplace.
Training Objectives The aim of this course is to raise awareness of substances used in the workplace that could be hazardous to health if they were handled or used without proper precautions. 
Learning Outcomes If you apply what you have learnt on this course you will be able to:

  • Define what COSHH is and recognise what constitutes a substance hazardous to health
  • Identify hazards in your own workplace, understand how risks are assessed and your role in that process
  • Explain the key exposure routes, describe exposure limits and recognise the importance of safety data sheets
  • Use personal protective equipment correctly to limit your exposure to hazardous substances
  • Understand what monitoring and health surveillance are and recognise their importance
  • Recognise the value of appropriate training for anyone working with substances hazardous to health
  • Plan how to deal with emergencies in line with your level of responsibility
