Modern Slavery Basic Awareness Webinar

Event Description This 2 hour webinar is for West Sussex County Council and local authority staff and partner agencies working in the Private, Voluntary and Independent Sector.

It seeks to support you in gaining an awareness of the basic information about Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking, what it is, how to recognise it and what to do about it.

Modern Slavery is a complex crime and public organisations have a duty to notify and include due diligence activities in their operations regarding Modern Slavery and Potential Victims of Trafficking.

This webinar will focus on all aspects of Modern Slavery, particularly the measures that should be taken in order to identify and safeguard potential victims including the National Referral Mechanism process and referrals to Adult and Child Safeguarding.

The webinar will be presented on MS Teams (audio) using a specially prepared PowerPoint presentation, interspersed with Question and Answer sessions.

To be able to participate in this webinar you must have the following:
  • Access to a computer,
  • Access to the Internet,
  • A web camera with microphone.

  • The webinar will be accompanied by a detailed workbook (also in PowerPoint format), which will be emailed to you before the session, and which you can use for preliminary reading and as a memo for links to extra resources and information.
