Event Code AD 21/101
Event Description This full day workshop is aimed at staff:

  • Who have never attended a West Sussex County Council Medication workshop
  • Who are new to care (please see below)
  • Whose previous medication training with WSCC was over 2 years ago

  • If your last Medication training was within the last 2 years see ‘Refresher of Medication Level 2 Administration’ events on the Learning and Development Gateway. You only need to complete the full day workshop once (unless requested by your manager)
After attending the full day you can, in the future, attend the refresher half day workshop every 2 years.

This workshop is for staff who are responsible for providing Administration of Medication Level 2 support, to customers living in their own homes, Residential homes and Day centres. This is administering medication without the need of support or guidance from the customer.
This workshop should be completed, before you attend any other specialist training to administer a Level 3 Specialised Techniques/Healthcare Tasks i.e. Administration of Buccal Midazolam

There will be an informal assessment at the start of this workshop and a further informal assessment at the end. You are then ready to start your workplace competency assessments.
You should have the Care Certificate standard of reading, writing and communication skills.
The training follows the West Sussex County Council Medication Policy.

Staff New to Care - It would be useful if you have attended training that covers Level 1 general support tasks or completed the ‘WSCC Learning and Development Gateway Medication Level 1’ on line learning, before attending this training.
