Children and Young People who present with Harmful Sexual Behaviour

Event Description The Assessment and Treatment Service (ATS) are a specialist team in West Sussex working with children and young people who engage in Harmful Sexual Behaviour (HSB) to others.
This one day course is designed for professionals working with children and young people (under 18) across a range of contexts and will involve both interactive and group-based exercises to promote a multi-agency response to supporting children who engage in Harmful Sexual Behaviour.

The course is designed for social care, IPEH, police, health and education colleagues. This course is not appropriate for foster carers or residential staff. There is a separate training course for residential staff.

Important notice:
Children’s residential staff should not book onto this course as bespoke workshops are currently being planned to cover this safeguarding topic.

Training objectives The aim of this course is to create awareness of young people who sexually harm others, what to do in the event of the discovery of such behaviour and how to support young people to move forward safely.

The course will include interactive learning, case studies, research findings, and make reference to the WSCC Serious Case Review, 'John'.
