Lifelong Services - Introduction to the Mental Capacity Act

Event Code CPI 20/594
Event Description This 5 hour course will explain how to give legal weight to the voice of young people both under and over the age of 16. You will learn how, and when to assess mental capacity, and be able to incorporate this legislation into your practice. You will be supported to look at good and bad practice, and be given the tools to support your own practice.

This training was developed by Lifelong Services, and is being offered to all WSCC children's social work teams. The mental capacity Act 2005 applies to everyone over the age of 16 and gives legal weight to the voice of the young person. The Mental Capacity Act is an empowering piece of law and supports positive risk taking, essential for all young people and care leavers.
