Fraud Awareness For Local Government - 'Doing The Right Thing'

Event Description This Reporting Fraud e-learning module is for all staff. Fraud is a significant issue. In their Annual fraud Indicator 2012, the National Fraud Authority (NFA) estimated the total loss to the Local Government sector as being £2.2 billion. This impacts on your ability to maintain both service levels and jobs at a time when budgets are already under pressure. As part of a wider approach to tackling fraud, this module is a key tool for helping you to implement the NFA’s Fighting Fraud Locally strategy, thus helping minimise losses and generate much needed savings.

Training Objectives The aim of this course is to provide you with general fraud awareness information, so as to help further embed a counter fraud culture and hence aid the deterrence, prevention and detection of fraud across the local authority.

Learning Outcomes If you apply what you have learnt on this course, you will be able to:

  • Specify the scale of the problem
  • Recognise what fraud is
  • Acquire an awareness of what is being done to tackle fraud
  • Identify potential warning signs that fraud may be occurring
  • Explain your role in preventing/detecting fraud and reporting concerns
