Safeguarding Children - Basic Awareness

Event Description This online learning module is for anyone who works with children and young people. It is essential for those working in Local Authorities, Education, Police, Health, Community and Voluntary Sector, Religious Settings and Probation.

This module will provide you with a basic awareness of safeguarding, to enable you to play your part in safeguarding children in West Sussex.

This module is a pre-requisite for Working Together to Safeguard Children. For more safeguarding information, please visit the West Sussex Safeguarding Children Partnership website.
Training Objectives The aim of this module is to bring together legislation, practical advice, and local information to support your understanding of the importance of safeguarding children within your daily practice.

You will learn some of the potential behaviour indicators of abuse and neglect, how to respond and who to report your concerns to. 
Learning Outcomes If you apply what you have learnt in this module, you will be able to:

  • Identify the difference between child safeguarding and child protection.
  • Recognise the four main categories of abuse and how these may present to you.
  • Follow the correct reporting process and recognise how this supports effective safeguarding procedures.
