Domestic Abuse Awareness

Event Description This online module is for anyone working with young people, adults and families who may be experiencing or have experienced Domestic Abuse.

Course Structure
This module forms Part 1 of a two-part Domestic Abuse Awareness course. Once completed you can book onto the Part 2 Webinar. To complete the Domestic Abuse Awareness training, you must complete both Part 1 and Part 2 of this course.

Training Objectives The aim of this module is to support you in developing a thorough awareness of the prevalence, nature, and effects of domestic abuse and to increase your confidence in identification, risk assessment and safety planning.

You will learn about the barriers people may experience when accessing support and you will be directed to where additional support and information can be accessed in West Sussex. 
Learning Outcomes If you apply what you have learnt in this module, you will be able to:

  • Define Domestic Abuse and Coercive Control.
  • Have an awareness of the DASH risk assessment tool and how to complete it.
  • Have an awareness of the impact of Domestic Abuse on Young People.
  • Have an awareness of the impact of Domestic Abuse on Older People.
  • Have an awareness of so-called ‘Honour’ Based Violence.
  • Apply the Cycle of Abuse to your work with clients.
  • Appreciate how Technology can be used to abuse victims.
