Data Protection - Archived

Event Description This module is aimed at all West Sussex County Council (WSCC) staff and any volunteers or advisors working on behalf of WSCC. It summarises the data protection requirements under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA).
Training Objectives The aim of this module is to provide you with information about what personal data is, why we need to keep it safe and secure, what steps to take to keep it secure and what the process is for reporting a data security breach.

It will outline existing and new rights under GDPR and DPA, WSCC processes for handling these and where to get advice and support with data protection matters. 
Learning Outcomes If you apply what you have learnt in this module you will be able to:

  • Describe what personal data is
  • Describe best practice in keeping data secure
  • Recognise a data breach and know how to report it
  • Identify a request for subject access, erasure, rectification or to stop processing
  • Contact the Data Protection Team
  • Locate WSCC policies and procedures
