The Care Act And Children's Services

Event Description This module is for all staff working in Children's Social Care as well as other people working with Children and Families. This module will give you an overall awareness of the new legislation and how it's being delivered in West Sussex. It covers the Care Act in general terms and also how it applies to Children's Services.
Training Objectives The aim of this module is to provide you with an introduction and overview of how the Care Act 2014 applies to you and Children's Services. 
Learning Outcomes If you apply what you have learnt on this course you will be able to:

  • Identify who is covered by the Care Act and what they can expect from different agencies
  • Comprehend your responsibilities in relation to the Care Act requirements, as well as the council's wider responsibilities
  • Comprehend your duty to cooperate and share information
  • Recognise the importance of being proactive in promoting wellbeing and providing information and advice to help prevent, reduce and delay the need for care and support
  • Use your skills 'Think Family' while undertaking your work
  • Use your skills to put young people and their families at the centre of the decision making about their care and support
  • Manage expectations of family and young people, including what services will be offered by Adult Services
  • Use your skills to work holistically with an individual and their support network
