Medication Level 1 General Awareness And How To Support Customers

Event Description This online learning module is aimed at all support staff who are new to care or those who require an update for induction.

This module covers the roles and responsibilities required to provide Level 1 general support medication tasks.

Please Note: This module does not cover administration of medication which is Level 2 training. If you require training to administer medication you will also need to complete 'Medication Level 2 - Administration Training'.

This module follows the West Sussex County Council Medication Policy.
Training Objectives The aim of this module is to enable you to gain an understanding of the safe handling of medicines and your responsibilities required to provide Level 1 general support with medication. 
Learning Outcomes If you apply what you have learnt on this course, you will be able to:

  • Explain the roles, responsiblities and boundaries of all workers involved in medication
  • Identify and encourage opportunities for individuals to achieve and maintain independence with their medication
  • Describe legislation, policy and guidance that govern the safe handling of medicines
  • Determine when it is appropriate to seek guidance and support from other professionals
  • Identify the correct recording and reporting process
