This certificated one day course is for Foster Carers and WSCC Childrens Residential staff. It covers basic lifesaving first aid for children and infants (from birth to 18).
This event is strictly for pre-booked, confirmed delegates only. You will not be permitted to attend if you do not have a confirmed booking. |

The aim of this course is to provide you with the knowledge and practical skills required to deal with accidents and emergencies involving children and infants in line with Health and Safety (First Aid) legislation and Ofsted regulations.

If you apply what you have learnt on this course, you will be able to:
Understand the role and responsibilities of the paediatric first aider: Be able to assess an emergency situation safely: Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child who are unresponsive: Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child who are choking: Be able to provide first aid to an infant and a child with external bleeding: Know how to provide first aid to an infant or a child who is suffering from shock: Know how to provide first aid to an infant or a child with bites, stings and minor injuries: |

Important notes
Please be aware, CPR on a manikin must be demonstrated on the floor at least once for the purpose of assessment. Please consider carefully whether you are able to undertake these activities before applying. If you are unable to do so, please contact Learning and Development for further advice before booking a place on this course: learninganddevelopment@westsussex.gov.uk You will be asked on the day of the course to read and sign a Medical Declaration to confirm you know of no condition that would affect your ability to take part in the course. This event is strictly for pre-booked, confirmed delegates only. You will not be permitted to attend if you do not have a confirmed booking. As you will be working on the floor, it is recommended that you wear casual clothing. You must bring Photo I.D. for the trainer to check; Your Passport / Driving Licence or Work I.D. Card are acceptable. If you do not provide Photo I.D. you will not be permitted to attend this event. You must read the Qualsafe Awards Training Commitment document (attached) before participating in this event. |
