This 2-hour Virtual Dementia Tour workshop is for anyone who works supporting people living with Dementia and is the only scientifically and medically proven method of giving a person with a healthy brain the experience of what dementia might be like by providing a simulated window into their world.
The two-hour session is set up as a 1-hour virtual experience facilitated by a trainer on the bus, followed by a 1-hour video recording explaining the experience. Both parts of the event need to be completed. Attending this Workshop This workshop takes place in a relatively small environment with steps to access. People of a nervous disposition of closed spaces or who are unable to mobilise safely should not attend this session. A medical disclaimer will be required from all delegates prior to the event taking place. About the Virtual Dementia Tour The Virtual Dementia Tour is the only scientifically and medically proven method of giving a person with a healthy brain the experience of what dementia might be like. Invented over 18 years ago in America the Virtual Dementia Tour has been experienced by over 2 million people in 17 countries and has been in the UK for over 5 years. Already the Virtual Dementia Tour has been adopted by 1700 care providers, 12 NHS trusts, Councils, Fire Service, Police, Prisons and many more and we are seeing the tour changing the lives of so many caring for people with dementia. |

The aim of this workshop is to provide you with an immersive experience in order to support you in developing an appreciation of the sensory and environmental impact that a person with dementia may experience.
You will be supported to develop a person-centred care approach that will enable you to identify the environmental changes needed, improve your communication skills, and learn how to build simple and engaging activities that will improve the lives of people with dementia. |

Attending this Workshop

Covid19 People attending the session will need to have received their Covid19 vaccination as delegates will be supporting vulnerable people. People who may be presenting Covid19 symptoms must not attend. Delegates will be required to wear masks when moving around the venue and use hand sanitiser.
