Safeguarding and Child Protection for the Designated Person in Early Years Settings (Face to face)

This half day course is for designated safeguarding or child protection coordinators, managers and child-minders. It seeks to support you in fulfilling your leadership role in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children in your care.

To participate, you must have completed the pre course task.

The aim of this course is to encourage you to explore the breadth of your role including raising awareness and confidence in your safeguarding responsibilities and are able to recognise when and how to make appropriate referrals.
If you apply what you have learnt in this course you will be able to;

  • Explain the role and responsibilities of the designated safeguarding lead within Early Years.
  • Identify the key legislation relating to the safeguarding and protection of children and young people.
  • Reflect on practice relating to safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Explain the referral process to Integrated Front Door (IFD)
  • Explain how to report allegations against a member of staff or volunteer in relation to LADO.
  • The pre course task will be emailed to you attached to the course place confirmation email from the Gateway. It must be completed before attending the webinar.
