Medication Administration - Competency Assessors Workshop

This one day course provides the knowledge, materials and skills needed to assess staff competence to administer in line with CQC expectations.
The aim of this course is to enable you to gain the skills and knowledge required to support you in assessing the competence of staff when administering medication.
The initial online module confirms you are up to date with your own medication knowledge and skills to administer medicines (with a Virtual Medicines Round Competence Assessment).

If you apply what you have learnt on this workshop you will be able to:

  • Discuss the competence checklists
  • Discuss the common errors to look for when assessing the different dosage forms
  • Practice using competence checklists to assess various videos of staff administering various medicines:
  • Tablets and capsules in original packs
  • Tablets and capsules in monitored dosage (blister) packs
  • Oral liquids
  • Inhalers
  • You must have completed training within the past year that enables you to administer medication at level 2, for example, Administering Medication: Level 2 Training or Administering Medication Blended Learning provided by WSCC.

Very Important – It is essential that you and your manager read the attached information for delegates. Due to Covid-19 specific instructions for attending this class room based event are attached. Please make sure you have read these instructions before booking or attending this event.
