Promoting Positive Mental Health in Children in Care

This 3 hour webinar delivered through Skype for Business is for those working with Children will support you in identifying behaviour as an expression of psychological distress and help you to explore ways of working that enable children and adults to develop coping strategies.
The aim of this course is to provide a framework for thinking about mental health and emotional wellbeing in children and young people. It draws on a range of evidence, including the experiences of children and young people themselves and explores a model, based on risk and resilience for working with those in care.
If you apply what you have learnt on this course you will be able to:

  • Distinguish mental health issues for looked after children and young people
  • Identify ways to provide the emotional safety that children and young people require to begin to change challenging, distressed and disturbed behaviour
  • Recognise strategies to promote resilience for children, young people and practitioners
