Harmful Practices: Honour Based Abuse and Forced Marriage

This interactive 3.5hr webinar is for practitioners and will support you in raising your awareness of Honour Based Abuse/Forced Marriage and the impact it has on victims/children. The topics covered will look into identification, assessment and reporting processes to support you in your safeguarding role.

Accessing the Webinar
To be able to participate in this webinar you must have the following:
  • Access to a computer or laptop
  • Access to the Internet
  • A web camera with microphone
  • The aim of this webinar is to enable you, in your role as practitioners, to identify and raise your awareness of the issues and support processes available to children and adults subjected to Honour Based Abuse /Forced Marriage across all cultures, religions and families.
    If you apply what you have learnt in this webinar you will be able to:

  • Identify the context of Domestic Abuse & so called Honour Based Abuse.
  • Explain the definitions of Honour Based Abuse/Forced Marriage in relation to the Government and Policing Strategy.
  • Risk assess and analyse this risk to support victims.
  • State how practitioners can identify the risks in an agency setting and use this information to inform a safety plan.
  • Although not essential, it may be helpful for you to have a basic understanding of these topics prior to attending:
