Lifelong Readers - Unlocking the Door to Reading (Full Day webinar)

This one day webinar is for all Early Years practitioners working with children aged 2 – 5 years.

This stimulating webinar is fully aligned to the revised EYFS and will support you in promoting children’s reading development through playful and purposeful opportunities and interactions; both adult-led and child-initiated. Exploration of techniques and skills, such as dialogic book sharing, will combine with manageable and cost-effective ideas which enable you to refresh and enliven your approach to literacy.
This interactive training will utilise engaging photographic images, quotes and best practice examples will deepen your understanding of reading readiness and inform self-evaluation and enhancements to literacy provision, both indoors and outside.


This webinar hosted via Microsoft Teams. You must have access to a computer or tablet, the internet and a web camera to participate. Mobile phones are not suitable due to the small screen.

All delegates must two children’s books that are popular in your setting – one story book (fiction) and one information book (non-fiction)
The aim of this course is to;

  • Establish a secure understanding of children’s journey towards competence and confidence as readers
  • Increase awareness of the wealth of adult skills and behaviours that support reading development
  • If you apply what you have learnt in this course you will be able to;

  • Confidently draw upon Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) best practice and research findings to inform your literacy provision
  • Plan and provide skilled interactions with children that support their motivation, confidence and progress in reading development
  • Understand and implement innovative elements of literacy-rich opportunities and environments indoors and outside
  • Recognise and affirm your vital role in supporting children’s engagement and learning in both child-initiated and adult-led contexts
  • This course has been arranged for Early Years settings, but others are welcome to attend. Please check the details and costs before booking.
