Effective Supervision in Adult Services

This Skype for business webinar (2 sessions of 3 hours each) is for supervisors and managers who work in WSCC Adult Services. There is a pre-course workbook to complete before each webinar (please see attachments). You need to complete part 1 before Webinar 1 and part 2 before Webinar 2.

The workbook and webinars will provide you with underpinning knowledge and assist you in identifying the skills required to carry out effective and reflective supervision.
The aim of the workbook and webinars is to assist you to establish sound and effective supervision practices that facilitates effective working practice, on-going professional development and increased employee engagement.
If you apply what you have learned on this webinar you will be able to:

  • Explain the 4x4x4 integrated model of supervision and how it can assist in understanding the functions and purpose of supervision.
  • Describe the supervision cycle and identify how it can be used as a model to support reflective practice.
  • Identify the components of effective supervision and its relationship to safe practice and positive outcomes for customers and/or family and friends and carers.
  • Explain the importance of developing and reviewing the supervisory relationship and the role of the WSCC supervision agreement in promoting anti-oppressive practice within supervision.
  • Explain the importance of developing and reviewing the supervisory relationship and the role of the agreement in promoting anti-oppressive practice within supervision.
  • Explain ethical aspects of power and leadership in supervision and the importance of applying these positively.
  • Explain the importance of emotionally intelligent supervisory practice and an authoritative supervisory style in promoting good outcomes through supervision.
  • You must have completed the workbook activities to be able to take part in the webinars.
