Fire Safety - An Introduction (WSCC Care Establishments)

This interactive, half-day workshop is for all Care Establishment staff and will provide you with an understanding of fire, how it starts and spreads, and the most effective ways of extinguishing different types of fire. It will look at your role and responsibilities in the event of a fire.

This workshop can be part of an induction programme or as a refresher to previous learning.

The aim of this workshop is to provide an overview of how a fire starts, spreads, and the most effective ways of extinguishing different types of fire.
If you apply what you have learnt on this workshop you will be able to:

  • Identify how a fire can start and spread
  • Recognise common causes of fire
  • Identify safety features within buildings
  • Explain what your role and responsibilities are in the event of a fire occurring
  • Identify requirements for fire prevention
  • Identify which extinguisher is appropriate for different types of fire
