Course
This two day course is designed for individuals who have already completed a Train the Trainer - People Handling and Risk Assessment Course.

It is intended to provide you with an update on current knowledge, techniques and practice relating to moving and handling to enable you to continue to instruct others. It will also provide a valuable opportunity for you to trade experience with others.

The course assessment comprises of the following:

  • A practical skills assessment, which takes place continuously throughout the course.
  • Informal Q&A throughout the duration of the course.
  • You will be expected to engage in a number of group activities and, during the teaching part, will be evaluated on your knowledge and ability to train others.
  • The aim of this course it to ensure that you have the knowledge and practical skills to enable you to train others in moving and handling appropriate to your working environment.
    If you apply what you have learnt on this course you will be able to;

  • State any relevant changes to legislation related to moving and handling.
  • Describe the principles of biomechanics and how they can be applied to safe moving and handling practices.
  • Explain how ergonomics are a means for the reduction of manual handling injury.
  • Describe how to carry out moving and handling risk assessments.
  • State the commonly known 'controversial techniques' and identify why some manoeuvres have been classified as such.
  • Demonstrate and practise up-to-date moving and handling techniques and identify new handling aids.
  • Must have previously attended Train the Trainer - People Handling and Risk Assessment or a similar course, at least 2 years ago. If you have not previously been trained by WSCC you will be required to provide proof of your original training.
