Drug and Alcohol Use Awareness

This 3 hour webinar is for staff in Children Services.

It is designed to raise awareness of different drugs as well as giving you knowledge of services across West Sussex which support families and individuals with drug and alcohol problems. The webinar is supported by a course manual to consolidate and extend your learning.
The aim of this course is to provide you with the skills and knowledge required to identify and respond to situations where substance abuse may be an issue.
If you apply what you have learnt on this course you will be able to:

  • Investigate your own attitudes to drug use
  • Describe how drugs affect the body and brain
  • List the different groups of drugs and their effects
  • Consider why people use drugs and alcohol
  • Recognise the different approaches to dealing with drug and alcohol use
  • Recognise the signs and symptoms of drug an alcohol use
  • Identify the appropriate drug services in West Sussex
  • Discover the impact of substance misuse on the family and significant others
