This webinar is for frontline staff and those working with children and young people to address gang crime and youth violence which has been identified as a national priority. It will ensure that staff are well placed to identify individuals at risk of gang involvement and to provide timely support and interventions to support them.

The aim of this webinar is to:

  • Demonstrate an awareness of tactics gangs use to target vulnerable individuals.
  • Identify potential reasons young people might get involved in gangs.
  • Explain the importance of early identification and intervention.
  • Identify best practice and joint information sharing.
  • If you apply what you have learnt on this webinar you will be able to:

  • Identify the dangers and risks specific to gang crime, youth violence, knives and criminal exploitation.
  • Heighten your awareness of tactics gangs use to target vulnerable people.
  • Recognise the warning signs and indicators to identify young people who may be at risk or affected by gangs.
  • Explain the 'County Lines', ‘Cuckooing’, ‘Bando’ and other key terminology.
  • Recognise what to do if you are concerned that a young person might be involved with a gang.

  • Use risk assessment tools and methods.
  • Manage ‘high risk’ situations and how best to respond to support vulnerable young people.
