Safeguarding and Child Protection in Early Years Refresher Webinar

This half day, online refresher course is for Early Years practitioners who have previously attended a full day Safeguarding and Child Protection Training for Early Years Practitioners.

It seeks to assist you to refresh your knowledge and skills in relation to Safeguarding and Child Protection.

The course has two parts. Part one is a self-led, online learning pack which will be attached to the course place confirmation email. If it is not, it will be emailed to you prior to the course. It will take about one hour, and MUST be completed any time before the webinar. Part two is the online webinar.
During the webinar you will be part of a group with direct access to a trainer who will be 'teaching' during the session. You must have access to a computer or tablet, the internet, a web camera with microphone and have set up a (free) Zoom account to be able to participate. Mobile phones are acceptable, but not recommended due to the small screen.

The aim of this webinar is to support you in revisiting the signs and indicators of abuse and neglect and, having identified these signals, how to respond.

It will assist you to explore social care thresholds in relation to the various levels of intervention.

You will also be encouraged to consider what action can be taken within the setting and the support and guidance available.
If you apply what you have learnt in this webinar you will be able to;

  • Identify the signs and indicators of abuse and neglect and know how to respond.
  • Carry out, in your role as a practitioner, early help and intervention.
  • Apply your knowledge of child development in order to support the identification of concerns for a child’s well-being.
  • The course has two parts. Part one is a self-led, online learning pack which will be emailed to you approximately one month before the course. It MUST be completed before attending the webinar.

    Early Help staff should contact the Practice Improvement team by email on early.years.training@westsussex.gov.uk if they wish to attend.
