Understanding Five to Thrive Webinar

This 2.5 hour webinar is for those working within Early Help (EH) and Early Years settings.

It seeks to support you in securing a sound understanding of brain development and the five “building blocks” of the highly regarded “Five to Thrive” approach.

The course has two parts. Part one is self-led, it consists of pre-reading and an online quiz. You will receive a hard copy of the Five to Thrive booklet and be emailed the pre-course work instructions approximately one month before the course. You will be required to print some materials prior to the course to use during the course. Please ensure you have a biro, notebook and highlighter pen available.

Part two is the online webinar hosted via Microsoft Teams. During the webinar you will be part of a group with direct access to a trainer who will be 'teaching' during the session. You must have access to a computer or tablet, the internet and a web camera to participate. Mobile phones are not suitable due to the small screen.

The joining link will be emailed to you the day before the course, it is NOT on the course confirmation email. If you do not receive it, please check your junk mail folder, then email us on

Please contact if you have any questions about Microsoft Teams.
This stimulating and informative course explores the essential Five to Thrive “building blocks” which contribute to security and happiness whilst boosting children’s confidence, self-esteem, resilience, self-regulation and readiness to learn. During the slide presentation, case studies and reflective activities, we will consider what works best for babies and children. You will have opportunities to suggest questions and ideas for discussion.
You will enhance your understanding of:

  • Strategies for meeting the emotional and psychological needs of babies and children
  • Developing meaningful, calm and empowering relationships between children and the adults in their lives – both family members and professionals.

  • Please ensure you have completed the pre-course reading and quiz. If you do not complete them prior to the course, you will be asked to re-book on a later session.
