Event Description

This half day online course is for practitioners at all levels who work in Early Years and Childcare settings.

It seeks to provide you with an introduction to early years safeguarding, that will enable you to have a greater awareness of children's safety and welfare and how to act on and escalate possible concerns.

The course has two parts. Part one is a self-led, online learning pack which will be attached to the course place confirmation email. It will take about one hour, and MUST be completed any time before the webinar. Part two is the online webinar.

During the webinar you will be part of a group with direct access to a trainer who will be 'teaching' during the session. You must have access to a computer or tablet, the internet, a web camera with microphone and have set up a (free) Zoom account to be able to participate. Mobile phones are acceptable, but not recommended due to the small screen.

Training Objectives

The aim of this webinar is to provide you with the skills and confidence to recognise the signs and symptoms of abuse and know local procedures if you have a concern about a child.

Learning Outcomes

If you apply what you have learnt on this webinar you will be able to;

Define what Child Protection and Safeguarding is and what the scope of your role is within safeguarding.

Identify the four types of abuse by recognising the signs and indicators and how this may present in children.

Identify the key documents relating to safeguarding that support you in your role in safeguarding and where you can find these.

Demonstrate how to record and evidence concerns.

Describe the importance of acting on safeguarding concerns and know the local process of how to do this.

Identify and follow the process of escalating unresolved concerns.

Course Pre-Requisites

The course has two parts. Part one is a self-led, online learning pack which will be emailed to you approximately one month before the course. It MUST be completed before attending the webinar.
