Five to Thrive

This one day workshop is for practitioners.

It seeks to support you in exploring the importance of positive relationships through the implementation of the Five to Thrive agenda both at home and in the setting.
The aim of this workshop is to support you to identify ways to develop meaningful and empowering adult and child relationships which boost children’s confidence, self-esteem, resilience and self-regulation.
If you apply what you have learnt in this workshop you will be able to;

  • Create an ethos in which the Five to Thrive agenda can be implemented in the home and the setting through practice, modelling and conversations with parents/carers.
  • Develop meaningful adult and child relationships, in order to help children feel confident, happy and secure which have a positive impact on their resilience and ability and readiness to learn.
  • Provide well-informed and compassionate responses which support secure attachments and include the development of resilience, confidence and self-regulation strategies.
  • Support parents and colleagues to implement ‘Five to Thrive’ in the family home and the setting.
  • This course has been arranged for Early Years settings. Other groups are welcome to attend, but please read the course costs below before booking.

    Course Costs
    Training Subscription members can book onto this course at no additional cost as you have already paid into our training subscription scheme and you will use tokens for payment for this course. The number of tokens each course requires can be found in the Course Brochure. We will take the tokens used off your total and send you a monthly report so you know how many you have used.

    Please check that you have enough tokens to purchase this course before you book. If not, you have the option to purchase additional tokens at any time, please email for details. Alternatively, you can book using the ‘pay-as-you-go’ rate.

    IPEH staff, should contact the Practice Improvement team if they wish to attend.

    Schools who are not part of the Early Years Training Subscription, PVI Care Providers, members of the public and West Sussex County Council staff are required to pay the pay-as-you-go rate. Schools may join the Early Years Training Subscription scheme. Details are available on the West Sussex County Council Website.
