The Secrets of Self Harm

Workshop
This one day workshop is for relevant staff to develop their understanding of issues related to Self Harm.

Some people use self harming behaviour as a coping strategy when life gets unbearable. This interactive workshop, which includes group discussion and practical exercises provides an opportunity to explore personal stories of the intricacy of self harm.
The aim of this workshop is to help people respond positively to those individuals who self harm and offer way to help minimise the harm.
If you apply what you have learnt on this workshop you will be able to:

  • Identify the needs of people who self harm
  • Use your skills to respond positively to challenging self harm situations
  • Recognise the effect of self harm on both the self harming individual and the person supporting them
  • Select appropriate practical strategies
  • Children and Young People / Mental Health Care / Safeguarding
    Adult Services / Care Homes / Foster Carers / PVI Sector - Adults / PVI Sector - Children / Social Workers / WSCC Staff
