Food Safety and Hygiene Level 2 - Royal Society for Public Health - WSCC Staff Only

This one day event will cover the principles of food hygiene for people who are food handlers.

The event aims to provide you with the knowledge and understanding of; the importance of food hygiene, associated food safety hazards, good hygiene practice and controls based upon an awareness of food safety management systems.

These topics are regarded by the Food Standards Agency as being important to understanding and maintaining good practice in the handling, processing and preparation of safe food. The event will provide you with an in-depth knowledge on food safety and updated legislation
There is a multiple choice examination at the end of the session. If you require any extra assistance with completing the examination please inform Learning and Development administration.

Food Safety and Hygiene level 2 will need to be refreshed/updated every 3 years.
The aim of the course is to give you an in depth knowledge into food safety and how to implement this knowledge into the workplace.
If you apply what you have learnt on this course you will be able to:

  • Identify contamination and cross-contamination hazards to food safety
  • Explain how contamination of food can cause illness or injury
  • Explain the importance of personal hygiene and behaviour to food safety
  • Identify how to prevent or minimise the risk of cross contamination
  • Identify the legal responsibilities of food handlers
  • Identify safe food handling practices and procedures
  • PLEASE NOTE: You must bring Photo I.D for the trainer to check. If you do not have photo I.D, you will be turned away and you won’t be able to take the examination.

    Acceptable forms of Photo I.D. are - Company name badges/railcards/driving licences/passports etc. Email confirmation to confirm identity from managers will not be accepted and I.D has to be the original. Photos of I.D on phones will not be accepted.
