Internet and Mobile Safety for Adults

This one day course for Carers and Social Care staff involved with the care of children and young people will inform you of the risk of exploitation posed to children and young people through the use of information technology. This version of this course is intented for Adults only and is not suitable for children and young people.
The aim of the course is to enable learners to appreciate the balance of risk and safety associated with information technology. This course will highlight the risks to children through discussion and excercises and will encourage strategies for the safety of children and young people.
If you apply what you have learnt on this course you will be able to:

  • Identify risk factors associated with internet and mobile phone usage
  • Examine the processes of sexual exploitation, cyber bullying and addiction through these technologies
  • Explain how children's behaviour may indicate they are victims of abuse through technology
  • Demonstrate knowledge of legislation and police action to counter these risks
  • Use safety measures to protect children from these risks.
  • This course is for Level 1 foster carers and staff working with children and young people.
