Refresher of Medication Level 2 Administration (Residential, Day Centres and Customers own homes)

Please do not apply for the half day refresher workshop unless you meet the criteria - This half day refresher workshop is for those who have completed either a one day or half day Medication Administration (Level 2) workshop within the last 2 years and with West Sussex County Council.

This refresher workshop is for those who require an update and are responsible for providing Medication administration support, to customers in their own homes, Residential homes and Day centres. The refresher medication workshop should also be completed 2 yearly.

The one day Medication Administration workshop is on the L & D Gateway. (The full day workshop is aimed at staff who have never attended a West Sussex County Council Medication workshop and all staff who are new to care or training has lapsed).

On completion of this workshop you are then ready to continue with your workplace competency assessments.
The aim of this workshop is to enable staff to update and refresh their understanding of the safe handling and administration of medicines and their responsibilities required to administer medication at Level 2 and 3 under the West Sussex Medication Policy.
If you apply what you have learnt on this workshop you will be able to:

  • Recall the difference between general support medication tasks (Level 1) and administration medication tasks (Level 2)
  • Discuss the different routes medication can be administered and the relevant training that might be required to enable staff to administer these routes, including Level 3 Specialist or Healthcare tasks.
  • Examine what is a medication incident or error and what is your responsibility in keeping customers/residents safe
  • Recall the use of the ‘5 Rights’ and the 6th Right
  • Demonstrate skills to safely administer and record involvement with medication
  • You must have attended Medication Level 2 training with West Sussex County Council within the last 2 years. Please do not apply for this event unless you meet this criteria as your booking will be cancelled.

Please book onto the Medication Level 2 event if you do not meet this criteria.
