Unconscious Bias

This 2 hour interactive Skype webinar is for all WSCC staff and will allow you to explore Unconscious Bias and how it can impact upon the workplace and the delivery of services to residents. It provides insight into how our own behaviour might be affected by prejudice and looks at what we can do to reduce or eliminate its influence in the decisions that we make.

We want to be ’An organisation which lives and breathes our values, where all of our people are able to work in an empowered, collaborative and innovative way to make a real and positive difference to all our communities’. We need ’an inclusive and equitable working environment, without prejudice or discrimination, where people can be themselves at work’.
The aim of this webinar is to explore how unconscious bias impacts on work relationships, decision making and behaviours. You will have an opportunity to take part in discussions that consider how to question and challenge your unconscious biases so you can be part of an organisation that promotes an inclusive and equitable working environment and customer centred service delivery.
If you apply what you have learnt on this webinar you will be able to:

  • Describe Unconscious Bias theory.
  • Explore the nature of Unconscious Bias including affinity and confirmation bias.
  • Develop practical strategies to mitigate the impact of bias in your working practices.
  • Before booking on to this webinar, please make sure you have completed the Unconscious Bias e-learning module. This module is part of the Induction pathway.
