Safeguarding and Child Protection in Early Years Refresher

This 2.5 hour evening course is for Early Years Practitioners who have attended the Safeguarding and Child Protection Training for Early Years Practitioners.

It seeks to assist you to refresh your knowledge and skills in relation to Safeguarding and Child Protection.
The aim of this course is to support you in revisiting the signs and indicators of abuse and neglect and, having identified these signals, how to respond.

It will assist you to explore social care thresholds in relation to the various levels of intervention.

You will also be encouraged to consider what action can be taken within the setting and the support and guidance available.
If you apply what you have learnt in this course you will be able to;

  • Identify the signs and indicators of abuse and neglect and know how to respond.
  • Carry out, in your role as a practitioner, early help and intervention.
  • Apply your knowledge of child development in order to support the identification of concerns for a child’s well-being.
  • This course has been arranged for Early Years settings. Other groups are welcome to attend, but please read the course costs below before booking.

    Course Costs
    Training Subscription members can book onto this course at no additional cost as you have already paid into our training subscription scheme and you will use tokens for payment for this course. The number of tokens each course requires can be found in the Course Brochure. We will take the tokens used off your total and send you a monthly report so you know how many you have used.

    Please check that you have enough tokens to purchase this course before you book. If not, you have the option to purchase additional tokens at any time, please email ipeh.practice.improvement@westsussex.gov.uk for details. Alternatively, you can book using the ‘pay-as-you-go’ rate.

    IPEH staff, should contact the Practice Improvement team if they wish to attend.

    Pay-as-you-go
    Schools who are not part of the Early Years Training Subscription, PVI Care Providers, members of the public and West Sussex County Council staff are required to pay the pay-as-you-go rate. Schools may join the Early Years Training Subscription scheme. Details are available on the West Sussex County Council Website.

    Places on this event are non-refundable, if you are unable to attend please consider substituting your booking.
