Signs of Safety

Course
This is a two day targeted course and is only available to managers and practitioners in Children's Social Care (including R&A, IFS, CDT's, CLA teams, FRT Over 10's, Integrated Services, Fostering and Residential) as well as Safeguarding Unit (CPA's and IRO's), FRT Under 10's and Think Family Teams who are working with children where there are concerns for their safety and wellbeing.

It is the standard training module used to deliver the signs of safety approach to practitioners, supervisors and managers working with children and families where there are concerns about their safety and well being.

It uses live case mapping with the trainer using Appreciative Inquiry and Solution Focused questioning to demonstrate the signs of safety approach.

Please note: This course is open to the above groups only, therefore some other government applicants may not be suitable to attend the course and their applications may be cancelled.
The aim of this course is to provide practitioners with an introduction to Signs of Safety and the skills and knowledge to use this approach in practice.
If you apply what you have learnt on this course you will be able to:

  • Describe the principles and elements of the Signs of Safety practice framework
  • Use the Signs of Safety approach as an underpinning model for your practice with children and families
  • Apply Solution Focused questioning and Appreciative Inquiry methods to case mapping
  • Identify how you could use Signs of Safety in your work setting
  • You will be sent details of pre-course reading material with confirmation of your booking.
