Managing Medication Audits

Workshop
This half day workshop is for senior care support staff, that are accountable for the management of medication in their establishment and who wish to implement or improve audits in medication.

The workshop will include a general update on any new local/national legislation and guidance, plus the use of an audit tool.

You must be up to date with Medication Administration Level 2 training (training completed within the last 2 years) and have a general understanding of a Medication Policy, preferably the West Sussex County Council Medication Policy.
The aim of this workshop is to enable staff to gain an understanding of the importance of using audit in medication management
If you apply what you have learnt on this course, you will be able to:

  • Identify current NICE guidance and other legislation and guidance on managing medication.
  • Describe and develop an effective medication audit tool.
  • Identify how audits can promote best practice when ordering, administering, storing and disposing medicines.
  • Recognise what are the common errors/incidents and how to manage them.
  • Identify ways in which medication errors/ incidents can be reduced through audit.
  • You must be up to date with Medication Administration Level 2 training (training completed within the last 2 years) and have a general understanding of a Medication Policy, preferably the West Sussex County Council Medication Policy.

    If you do not meet this pre-requisite your place on this course will be cancelled.
