Sexual Abuse: Caring for Children and Young People Who Have Been Sexually Abused

Course
This two day course is for all professional child care staff and Foster Carers Level 1 pathway.

It addresses identification of sexual abuse, how that impacts on child development and offers strategies to manage sexualised behaviour.
The aim of this workshop is for you to explore, through discussion and exercise, the signs, indicators and issues for young people who have been sexually abused and to develop strategies to manage the consequent behaviour.
If you apply what you have learnt on this course you will be able to:

  • Identify signs which may indicate a child has been sexually abused.
  • Apply positive strategies for caring for children who have been sexually abused.
  • Recognise a range of effective communication techniques.
  • Consider ways of keeping the child, their selves and their families safe when caring for children who have been sexually abused.
  • This is for all professional child care staff and Foster Carers Level 1 pathway.
