Safer Care

This half day course is a pathway course for Level 1 Foster Carers.

It explores the complex and demanding task of caring for another child in your home. It is therefore important that you keep yourself, your family and the children you care for, safe.
The aim of this event is to foster an appreciation of potential risks inherent in the fostering role and to incorporate risk assessment when devising safe caring plans.
If you apply what you have learnt on this course you will be able to:

  • Identify the hazards, risks and vulnerabilities associated with fostering
  • Recognise the impact of secondary trauma on carers
  • Explore ways of assessing and managing risk
  • Implement safe caring plans
  • To attend this course you will need to be a WSCC Foster Carer.

Delegates must complete the Introduction to Safer Care online learning module prior to attending the course
