Refresher - Preventing Radicalisation and Violent Extremism

This 2 hour workshop is for West Sussex County Council staff and partner agencies who have attended the Preventing Radicalisation and Violent Extremism course in the past and require an update to ensure that they have a current and relevant understanding of the Prevent Agenda and what it means to professionals within West Sussex.

The workshop will build on your current knowledge and explore recent local and national developments and challenges.
The aim of this refresher workshop is to enable you to review, reinforce and upgrade your current knowledge and skills. This will ensure that you are best equipped to understand, identify and respond to early signs of individuals being radicalised into violent extremism by recognising current trends, theories and developments in policy and practice, locally and nationally.
If you apply what you have learnt in this workshop you will be able to;

  • Demonstrate a clear awareness of the role you and your organisation have in safeguarding vulnerable individuals from radicalisation into violent extremism.
  • Effectively access the Prevent referral process to gain support for people susceptible or vulnerable to extremism.
  • Recognise some key signs and symbols often associated with radicalisation into violent extremism.
  • Demonstrate an awareness of the push and pull factors that may lead to individuals engaging with extremist ideology online or offline.
  • All delegates must have completed the Preventing Radicalisation and Violent Extremism Training course on the L&D Gateway.
