Family Owned Plans and explaining worries to children and young people

This course, formerly Signs of Safety Day 2, is for delegates who have completed Signs of Safety Day One, who are working intensely with families and leading on Early Help Safety and Well-being plans as their main role.

Signs of Safety is an Assessment and Planning framework using strengths based approach through working in partnership with families to develop best outcomes for children and young people.

The aim of this course is to recap on the Signs of Safety Framework and importance of developing ‘best questions’ allowing practitioners to develop their skills in: supporting and running Family Network Meetings; creating Family and Child Owned Well-being / Safety Plans through range of tools - including Words and Pictures; using the SoS approach to test, monitor and progress Early Help Safety and Well-being Plans.

This course is designed to further develop practice, so practitioners are asked to bring examples of families / young people / children they are working with where they need to develop the above skills. Part of the course will be developing a Safety Plan and a ‘Words and Pictures’ narrative.

Making sense of past and present events is important in the development of both children and adults. The training also covers how to use ‘Words and Pictures’ as a storyboard to create an illustrated narrative for children to help them understand events that are difficult for adults around them to talk about.
The aim of this course is to support you in increasing your skills and knowledge in order to enable you to develop safety and wellbeing plans and create Words and Pictures with children, young people and families.
