Signs of Safety and Wellbeing Day 1

Course
Signs of Safety is an assessment and case planning framework using strengths based approach through working in partnership with families to develop best outcomes for children and young people.

The aim of this course is to provide practitioners with an introduction to Signs of Safety Framework allowing them to gain skills and knowledge to use this approach in practice.

This one day course if for practitioners who work with children and families in need of early help and who contribute to assessing, planning and reviewing children and young people’s needs through an Early Help Plan. There is a follow on course (Family Owned Plans and explaining worries to children and young people) which focuses on developing Family Network Meeting, creating Family and Child Owned Well-being / Safety Plans through range of tools - including Words and Pictures - and using the SoS approach to test, monitor and progress Early Help Safety and Well-being Plans.

There have been changes in the SoS approach over the past 12-months so the 1-day can be used to refresh and improve practice for practitioners who have previously attended SoS training.
The aim of this course is to provide practitioners with an introduction to Signs of Safety and the skills and knowledge to use this approach in practice.
If you apply what you have learnt on this course you will be able to:

  • Experience the questioning approach from a personal perspective
  • Describe the principles and disciplines of the Signs of Safety Practice framework
  • Recognise and apply the Signs of Safety framework in your work with children/young people and families
  • It is recommended that you attend ‘Integrated Prevention and Earliest Help Briefing and Thresholds Training’ and Implementing Early Help Plans’ prior to this course.
