Child Sexual Exploitation Awareness

Course
This half day course is for all those working with young people and their carers. It looks in depth at what Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) is, how it can be recognised and what effect it has on children or young people and the service you provide.

The course is being run by the local CSE service deliverers for multi-agency partners.

Please Note: Refreshments will not be provided on this course. Please bring your own refreshments on the day.
The aim of this course is help you understand Child Sexual Exploitation and its implication on your service.
If you apply what you have learnt on this course you will be able to:

  • Define Child Sexual Exploitation
  • List the issues relating to child development, trauma vulnerability and CSE
  • Recognise vulnerability and warning signs of young peoples involvement in sexual exploitation
  • Describe the common processes of grooming in such circumstances
  • Categorise the criminal offences which relate to sexual exploitation
  • Identify the issues/dilemmas of professionals working with children or young people who may be at risk or subject to sexual exploitation
  • Use the referral process to B You, Sussex and Surrey Child Sexual Exploitation and Missing Service
  • In order to attend this course it is a pre-requisite that you have already completed the on-line course 'Safeguarding Children' which is available through the WSSCB website and the Learning and Development Gateway. You should also have attended the 'Working Together to Safeguard Children' course.
