Preventing Radicalisation and Violent Extremism

This 2 hour workshop is designed for LSCB staff - Please do not book on to this workshop unless you are a member of the LSCB.

The session will also introduce CONTEST, the government's counter-terrorism strategy, with particular focus on Prevent, which helps to stop people becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism. The training will also provide local context regarding risks and threats in Sussex and highlight sources of support, such as the Channel programme.
The aim of this workshop is to provide you with awareness of the factors that can lead to extremism by exploring the link between vulnerability and radicalisation. This increased awareness should better equip you to support and protect people who might be susceptible to radicalisation, ensuring that individuals are diverted before any crime is committed.
If you apply what you have learnt on this workshop you will be able to:

  • Identify people at risk of radicalisation
  • Recognise how to respond to vulnerable individuals that you encounter
  • Children and Young People
