Child Protection Conferences and Core Groups

This is a full day course aimed at helping professionals from the partner agencies become familiar with CP Conferences and Core Group meetings.
The aim of this course is to help you understand the workings of safeguarding meetings, including the expectations upon you in terms of your attendance and contribution.
If you apply what you have learnt on this course you will be able to:

  • Describe the workings of Child Protection Conferences and Core Groups
  • Write SMART outcomes for that could be used in child protection plans
  • Identify your role and responsibilities in the Child Protection Conference and Core Group working process
  • Present your observations and assessments regarding children and families in a challenging context
  • Outline how best to involve children, young people, parents and carers in safeguarding meetings, ensuring that their voices are heard in the safeguarding process
  • Illustrate how the Signs of Safety model is used in CP Conferences
  • Recognise the approaches need to work across cultures
  • In order to attend this course it is a pre-requisite that you have already completed the on-line course 'Safeguarding Children' which is available through the WSSCB website and the Learning and Development Gateway. You should also have attended the 'Working Together to Safeguard Children' course.
