Working Together To Safeguard Children

This one day course is for members of the workforce who work predominantly with children, young people and/or their parents/carers and who could potentially contribute to assessing, planning, intervening and reviewing the needs of a child and the parenting capacity where there are safeguarding concerns.
The aim of this course is to provide you with an opportunity to further develop knowledge, skills, confidence and competence in order to support collaborative working within the Assessment process and to contribute effectively to Section 47 enquiries.
If you apply what you have learnt on this course you will be able to:

  • Identify your own and other agencies roles within Child Protection during Section 47 enquiries and completion of the Core Assessment
  • Explain the importance of remaining Child focussed throughout the Child protection process
  • Recognise the importance of involving the Child at every stage
  • Recognise the roles and responsibilities of Children's Social Care and the Police within the Section 47 process
  • In order to attend this course it is a pre-requisite that you have already completed the on-line course 'Safeguarding Children' which is available through the WSSCB website and the Learning and Development Gateway.
